I have the hp envy that is touch and it has a tb of. Show more It worked for about the first month of having it (its only about 3 months old) and then it just stopped. Everything looks up to date, I don't know whats wrong. Before it would light up if I ran my finger over it and it doesn't even do that anymore. It took me long to find correct way to setup fingerprint reader in HP probook series laptop. Initially when I purchased laptop the installed OS had already setup every thing. But soon after re installing new Windows, I was unable to Fix Fingerprint scanner on HP laptop.I searched on HP forums to setup biometric in probook but none of the post help me. We bought this Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4 around November of last year, and after 3-4 months or so, the fingerprint scanner stopped working. I live in the Philippines, and we bought this laptop in the US so I'm not sure if I can bring this to any PC Repair shop.
Computer - HP Envy DV7 laptopAfter 2 days of effort I finally have Windows Hello working.Reviewed and tried numerous approaches including the following without luck:1) Removed HP SimplePass (due to apparent conflict with Windows Hello as noted on various forums)2) Removed fingerprint scanner driver and installed new Synaptics Driver (as suggested on various forums)3) Removed existing fingerprints and PIN then created anew to reset Windows Hello (as per yet other advice online).4) Rebooted, restarted numerous times in various orders with the above actions.Nothing worked. Till today where I came across some subtle advice on a Windows forum by accident. The key is after resetting Windows Hello pin and fingerprints:a) logout of Windows 10 (signout or restart or power off and power on)b) Use your useraccount name and password to sign into Windows 10 (i.e. Do not sign in with your Pin or fingerprint)c) Logout then login with fingerprint stored in Windows Hello.OMG. So much of my life wasted on trivia.

Hp Scanner Not Working With Windows 10
My fingerprint scanner/login was working until recently and I am not sure how to fix it. I upgraded to windows 10 on my laptop from windows 8 and then the scanner stopped working. When i go the settings/sign-in options the ability to set-up the fingerprint icon is there, however after i click on set-up and get started I don't get the screen option to input my pin. I have already set-up a pin which i use to log onto my computer. I would greatly appreciate any assistance with this issue.
I have attached screen-shots of the three steps.
